At RGS Istanbul, the Prep School (Years 3 to 8) will be a period of vital transition, intellectual discovery, and personal growth. By extending our Prep phase to Year 8, we provide our students with a unique school experience, allowing them to develop senior- evel leadership and academic confidence in a supportive, nurturing environment before they begin their formal GCSE pathways.

Learning in our Prep School will be rigorous, grounded in the British curriculum and brought to life through the ‘Go Beyond’ philosophy.

The Journey of Independence

As students move from the lower Prep years into the senior Prep years (Years 7 and 8), the curriculum evolves to meet their growing intellectual curiosity and need for independence.

Subject Specialism & Academic Ambition

While younger students benefit from the security of a Class Teacher, with specialist teaching in selected subjects, from Year 7 and 8 students will transition to a fully specialist led model. This ensures they are taught by experts in every field, utilising our state of the art campus facilities:

Advanced STEM: Hands on experimentation in dedicated laboratories and digital technology suites.
Linguistic Excellence: A focus on English, Turkish and a choice of third languages to foster global citizenship.
The Humanities: Developing critical thinking and analytical skills through History, Geography, and Philosophy.
Creative Expression: High level instruction in Music, Drama and the Fine Arts.

Leadership and the Founding Spirit

In our Prep School, our oldest students in Year 7 and 8 are the leaders of the school. At RGS Istanbul, our Founding Students in years 4 and 5 will initially play this historic role:

Mentorship: Year 4 and 5 students will serve as big brothers and sisters to our younger learners, establishing the first House traditions.
Student Voice: They will form the inaugural Student Council, working directly with the Headmaster to help shape school life.
Executive Skills: We focus on developing the soft skills, time management, collaborative problem solving and emotional intelligence required for success in the Senior years.

The ‘Go Beyond’ Philosophy

Our Prep School day is designed to ensure that no child’s talent goes undiscovered.

Integrated Co-Curriculars: Every afternoon, students engage in elite sports coaching, performing arts or academic societies (such as Debate or Coding).
Digital Literacy & Artificial Intelligence: We move beyond the basics, teaching students to be ethical, creative and proficient users of emerging technologies.

Preparing for Year 9 and Beyond

The transition at the end of Year 8 is a major milestone. Our curriculum is specifically aligned with the Reigate Grammar School UK standards to ensure that by the time students reach Year 9, they are:
