Joining a Family That Began in 1675
When a student joins RGS Istanbul, they are not simply enrolling in a school. They are becoming part of a world-wide Reigatian family, one that traces its roots to the founding of the Reigate Grammar School in 1675, and one that now stretches across the globe wherever the RGS tradition has taken root. That sense of belonging, of being part of something larger and older and more purposeful than any single institution, is one of the most distinctive things about an RGS education.
Our admissions process is designed to reflect that spirit. We are not looking simply to fill places. We are looking to welcome families who share our values and who will contribute to, and benefit from, the extraordinary community that the RGS tradition has built over 350 years.
“Every founding student who joins RGS Istanbul becomes part of a story that began in 1675. We take that responsibility seriously, and we take the admissions process personally.”
Step One: Make an Enquiry
The first step is simply to get in touch. Our admissions team will respond promptly, provide information about our availability across year groups and answer any initial questions. We welcome enquiries at any stage, whether you are planning a move months in advance or seeking a school place at short notice.
Step Two: Visit RGS Istanbul
We strongly encourage all prospective families to visit us in person. There is no better way to understand what makes RGS Istanbul different than to visit our marketing suite, take a virtual walk through our school, meet our leadership team, and experience the atmosphere that 350 years of educational tradition is creating. Once our school building is ready, we will be hosting regular site visits, and will welcome private tours for families with specific scheduling needs.
Step Three: Submit Your Application
Our application process is straightforward. Along with a completed application form, you will typically need to provide your child’s most recent school reports (last two to three years), a copy of their passport or birth certificate, any relevant educational assessments and a reference from their current or most recent school. Our admissions team will guide you through every step.
Step Four: Assessment
Depending on your child’s year group, we may invite them to attend an assessment session. These are not high-stakes entrance examinations, they are an opportunity for us to understand where your child is in their learning journey, so that we can ensure they are well supported from their very first day. For younger students, any assessments will be informal and play based.
Step Five: Welcome to the RGS Family
Once your child’s place is confirmed, our admissions team will guide you through the enrolment process, connect you with our founding families community and ensure that your child has everything they need for their first day. From that first day forward, your family will become part of a tradition that has been welcoming new members, nurturing their potential and watching them go on to remarkable things for 350 years.
